Thomas J. Whelan '33Inducted Feb. 18, 1978 Whelan scored 40 points on the gridiron in six games as a freshman, then finished his career by scoring a touchdown in 15 consecutive games. He went on to play in the first North-South all-star game and played professionally with the Pittsburgh Pirates in the National Pro Football League. He was named honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press following his senior season of 1932, a year in which he broke off an 87-yard touchdown run against Tennessee-Chattanooga, a record that stands to this day.
