Frederick R. Favo '55

Inducted June 2, 1982

A diverse athlete for Catholic, Favo ran cross country for three years and wrestled and ran track for four. Outstanding in indoor and outdoor track, he was undefeated in dual meet competition in the 440 yard run from 1953-55. Favo was Mason-Dixon Conference indoor track champion in the 440 yard and a member of the mile relay champions (1954-55), sprint medley relay champion (1953-55), and indoor record holder in the 440 (1953-54).

In outdoor track, Favo's career highlight was the 1954 District of Columbia A.A.U. 440 championship during which, as a non-scholarship athlete, he defeated all scholarship runners from Georgetown and the University of Maryland. In addition, Favo was a member of the Mason-Dixon Conference's mile relay champions (1952-55), 220 yard champion (1953-55), 440 yard champion (1953-54) and a participant in the 1954 NCAA Track and Field Championships. As a wrestler, he was runner-up in the 1954 Mason-Dixon Conference Championships in and 137 lb. class, and in the 147 lb. class in 1955.

He was awarded the Harris Cup in 1955.
