John J. Hartke '27

Inducted June 8, 1985

As a member of Charles Moran's baseball team, Hartke was one of the top shortstops in the region, maintaining a .350 batting average as well as a slick glove defensively. Upon graduation, Hartke was offered a tryout with the Washington Senators, but declined the offer to pursue his engineering career. The Raymond A. DuFour Center stands near one of the bridges he designed, the Taylor Street Bridge.
