Walter C. Pipp '13

Inducted April 21, 1990

Pipp left CU in 1913 to sign with the Detroit Tigers, but his fate was sealed in history in 1915 when he was traded to the New York Yankees. Pipp held the record for consecutive games played before he was displaced by future Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig. Pipp's lifetime major league numbers included a .281 batting average, with 1,941 hits, 90 homers and 996 RBI.
