Carolyn Hughes Brady '84

Inducted Oct. 30, 1998

Carolyn Hughes Brady ran track and cross country for Catholic from 1979-83. She was named All-American in track in 1981 and 1982, becoming the first female athlete at Catholic to earn such a distinction. In 1982, she made history again by becoming the first Catholic U. woman to win a national championship. Brady won the national title in the 800 meter outdoor event and still holds school records for the 800 and 1500 meter races. She also distinguished herself in cross country, winning the 1982 NCAA Regional co-championship with teammate Louise Mallet. That helped lead the team to the school's first NCAA Regional title and the team's first appearance in the national meet, where the team placed 11th.
