Jane Connolly Martin '81

Connolly transferred to Catholic in 1978 and had an immediate impact on the Cardinal basketball and softball teams. Her first season, she led the basketball team to a 16-8 mark and averaged 17 points per game, including a 26-point performance against Bowie State in the championship of the Catholic University Invitational. As a senior, she led all scorers with 18 points per game, and finished her career with a 17.3 point-per-game average, still second all-time. She still leads the program in assists per game, with 4.4.

Connolly pitched the varsity softball team's first game, beating the Naval Academy 5-2 on a one-hitter, posting eight strikeouts. She earned eight of the team's 11 wins the next season, batting .349.
