On October 21, 2006 the women's basketball team participated in the WALK NOW 5K at the National Mall to support autism. The annual event is held to raise money in order to find a cure for autism. The Cardinals ran for head coach Margaret Carey's cousin, Jack O'Grady, who is autistic. They also participated with the #21 George Washington University women's basketball team who was walking for head coach Joe McKeown the coach has an autistic son, Joey.
