Cardinals go 5-0 including a ninth-inning comeback win

4/28/2008

WASHINGTON - Catholic University hurler Michael Bzozowski (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) has been named the Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Week for his outstanding play in his past two appearances.  The Cardinals went 5-0 last week with an extra innings win over Washington College in a ninth-inning comeback as well as a sweep in conference play.

Bzozowski had a pair of strong relief appearances for the Cardinals. He tossed 4 1-3 innings of scoreless relief for the week. He also threw three innings of shutout relief to earn a win as CUA rallied to defeat Washington in extra innings. He then tossed 1 1-3 innings of shutout relief as the Cardinals swept Drew in Landmark play. The closer allowed only one hit over four innings and struck out five with just one walk.  Bzozowski is currently ranked sixth in the nation in saves.

The Cardinals have earned the third seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament after finishing 23-13-1 overall with an 11-7 mark in league play.  CUA will have two contests this week before traveling to Juniata College on Friday to begin the tournament.
