Natoli to Host Fall CUA Baseball Prospect Camp

WASHINGTON – Catholic University head baseball coach Ross Natoli and his coaching staff will host a two-day Fall Prospect Camp on October 19-20, which will be held on campus at the Robert J. Talbot Baseball Field and the DuFour Athletic Center at CUA.  This Prospect Camp is designed for highly skilled high school student-athletes in grades 9-12 who are striving to reach their full potential with aspirations to compete at the collegiate level.

Whether you are looking to train with a top level Division III coaching staff or to showcase your skills with the hope of bringing your game to the next level, this camp may be of interest to you.   We offer prospective student-athletes an opportunity to display their skills; to train with, and be evaluated by, our current coaching staff; and really get to know our program, coaching staff and current team.

Our camp goals are to provide an environment for prospective student-athletes to display their athletic talents to the CUA coaching staff, while the staff provides instruction to improve each student-athlete’s fundamental skills.  The camp format will focus on the areas of pitching, individual defensive position play, the fundamentals of hitting, base running, strength and agility training, and game competition.

The participating student-athletes will be tested and evaluated in key skill areas including:

  • Arm Strength
  • Running Speed
  • Hitting
  • Pitching
  • Catching
  • Throwing
  • Fielding and Base Running

These skills will be evaluated through position-specific workouts and live-game competition.

Along with skill evaluation and development, participants will engage in sessions covering the academic requirements and expectations of Catholic University, the CUA baseball program, the college recruiting and admissions process, and balancing college academics and baseball.  A campus tour and dinner for the participating student-athletes and their parents will be included.

All participating student-athletes will have the opportunity to meet, learn and be evaluated by the current CUA coaching staff, which is comprised of head baseball coach Ross Natoli, who is in his 29th season, associate head coach Bobby Picardo, who is a CUA baseball alum, pitching coach Tyler McCarthy, and assistant coaches Bernie Dennis, Kevin Sweeney and Tim Mierzwa, who are also CUA baseball alums. Members of the 2013-14 CUA baseball team will also be on hand to assist with the camp and interact with prospects.
