Carroll Pitches Complete Game in 7-1 Win Over Johns Hopkins

WASHINGTON – Andrew Carroll tallied his third win of the season by allowing six hits and one run, alongside six strikeouts on 31 at bats for a 7-1 Catholic University of America win over the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays at Robert J. Talbot Baseball Field.

The Cardinals scored in the third, sixth, seventh and eighth innings.  Marc Hanna scored Mike McFarland on a center field sacrifice in the bottom of the third. 

John Palladino, who reached second base on a double down right field, scored on Burmerster's single.  Burmester and Clary returned to home plate when Dan Hinchliff slugged a triple for 4-0 lead.

Palladino hit another double in the contest, this time scoring Hanna, who tripled to right field, for a single run in the bottom of the seventh.

Catholic closed their scoring effort with two runs on the bottom of the eighth by scoring two unearned runs. 

Johns Hopkins scored in the top of the ninth to forego the impending shutout.

The Cards take on Drew on Friday, April 11 at 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. in Madison, N.J.
