WASHINGTON - The Catholic University baseball team had two student-athletes named to the 2014 All-Landmark teams after making their seventh straight Landmark Tournament appearance.
Burmester had an impressive rookie campaign for Catholic and hit .322 for the season but was even better in the Landmark with a .407 average in conference games. The Columbia, Md. native played in 36 games with 34 starts and had 37 hits including a team-high four home runs to go with 14 doubles and three triples.
He scored 25 runs and added 24 more RBIs on the year. During the team's doubleheader against Merchant Marine, Burmester slugged three homers, including twice in the Cardinals' 6-0 win.
Poggioli is making his first appearance on the All-Landmark team after a strong sophomore season in which he hit .314 overall and .375 in conference. The Middletown, N.J. native started 32 of the 37 games he played in and had 38 hits with five doubles and scored 16 runs in addition to his 17 RBIs.
