Cardinals Down Green Terror in Midweek Matchup

WASHINGTON - The Catholic University of America baseball team recorded its 13th win of the season when they topped non-conference opponent, McDaniel College, 4-1 on Tuesday afternoon.

Senior Nicholas Kuczarski went 3-of-4 at the plate and drove two runs. Freshman Connor Sullivan came home twice on two hits with one RBI and a stolen base.

Junior Jake Crist drove in sophomore Bailey Lewis in the first inning to score the Cardinals' first run of the event.

With junior Brennan Cotter on second base in the top of the fourth, Sullivan sent an RBI single into left field. Then, after advancing on a wild pitch, Sullivan came home when Kuczarski cracked a single up the middle.

The Green Terror got on the board with an unearned run in the fifth but Kuczarski answered in the sixth with an RBI single to score Sullivan and solidified the victory.

Catholic senior Joseph Prego pitched the opening 4.2 innings before sophomore Collin Brown took the mound for the Cards. Brown earned his second win of the year and was relieved by senior Jonah Jimenez. Freshman Colin Cunningham closed for Catholic and captured his second career save.

The Cardinals will return to conference play on Saturday, March 25 when they face Drew University.
