Madison, N.J. - The Catholic University of America baseball team fell 7-3 in a nine-inning game to Drew University on Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore Bailey Lewis recorded Catholic's first RBI with a single to center field in the top of the fifth inning. Junior Jack Hennessy drove in classmate Brennan Cotter in the sixth inning while senior Paul Burmester popped a sacrifice fly in the ninth to bring home rookie Connor Cozad.
Drew got on the scoreboard with a solo home run in the first inning. After going scoreless for the next three the Rangers hit another rocket over the wall in the fifth inning. They scored at least one the following three innings to capture the Landmark Conference victory.
Freshman Ross Dean started on the mound for the Cardinals and faced 21 batters. Juniors Sean Carroll and David Gately along with senior Joseph Salzano each spent time on the rubber before senior Mark Duffy closed for Catholic.
The Cardinals, now 15-3 overall, will host Johns Hopkins University in a non-conference game at 3:30 p.m., on Wednesday, March 29.
