Cardinals Drop Doubleheader to Blue Jays

Elizabethtown, Pa. - The Catholic University of America baseball team dropped two games in a doubleheader to Elizabethtown College on Friday.

The Blue Jays topped the Cardinals 11-2 in game one and followed what 4-3 victory in game two.

Catholic seniors Brett Padula and Paul Burmester both recorded RBIs in game one. Juniors Jack Hennessy and Brennan Cotter along with rookie Connor Sullivan batted runners home in game two.

During game one, Padula drove in sophomore Bailey Lewis with a single up the middle in the third inning and Burmester brought home Sullivan with and RBI single in the fifth.

Sullivan came across the plate again in game two after a single from Hennessy in the first inning. Cotter followed with a single through the right side to score Hennessy and the Cards took and early 2-0 lead.

Sullivan drove in senior Nicholas Kuczarski in the fourth before the Blue Jays rallied with a four-run seven inning for the victory.

The Cardinals and Blue Jays will round out their three-game Landmark Conference series with a nine-inning game one Saturday, April 15 at 12 p.m.
