Cardinals Top Blue Jays, 11-2, in Nine Innings

Elizabethtown, Pa. - The Catholic University of America baseball team topped the Elizabethtown College Blue Jays 11-2 in game three of a Landmark Conference three-game series.

Catholic freshman Connor Sullivan went 4-of-5 at the plate while junior Brennan Cotter recorded three hits in four at-bats. Sullivan registered two RBIs and two runs while Cotter came home twice including a solo homer in the fifth inning.

The Blue Jays scored first with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Catholic answered with five runs in the second. Crist started the Cardinal scoring with an RBI that scored Cotter. Seniors Nicholas Kuczarski and Paul Burmester along with Sullivan and junior Jack Hennessy recorded additional RBIs to lift Catholic to a 5-1 lead.

Cotter sent the ball over the fence in the fifth before Burmester batted in Sullivan in the seventh. E-town notched one more run the bottom of the inning before Catholic batted in its last three runs.

In the eighth inning, Kuczarski scored sophomore Bailey Lewis and junior Jake Crist before Sullivan and Hennessy drove in  Kuczarski and sophomore Ryan Tracy, respectively.

Sophomore Mason Belcher earned his third win of the year and dished seven strikeouts in eight innings. Rookie Jack Ropelewski closed the game, pitching the final inning.
