Cardinals Fall Short Against Mustangs

WASHINGTON - The Catholic University of America baseball team fell 11-10 to Stevenson University on Wednesday afternoon.

Despite the midweek loss, the Catholic's bats came alive as three Cardinals drove the ball over the fence and four additional players recorded doubles while the team registered a collective 17 hits.

Junior Danny O'Hagan crushed a three-run homer in the fourth inning then sophomore Bailey Lewis led off the fifth inning with a solo home run. Two innings later the Cardinals recorded another lead-off homer when junior Anthony Ferlise sent the ball flying over the left field wall.

Junior Jake Crist went 3-of-4 at the plate including a double in the second inning and an RBI single in the third inning which scored fellow junior Jack Hennessy. Hennessy cracked a double in the top of the sixth after scoring freshman Cid Porter with single in the fourth.

Porter recorded two doubles for the Catholic offense and his classmate Connor Cozad ripped a 2-run double to center field in the second which brought home Ferlise and O'Hagan.

In the fourth inning, junior Brennan Cotter drove in Cozad for his 25th RBI of the season. Cotter sits four the Landmark Conference for runs batted in,  behind his classmate Crist who is number two with 27 total RBIs.

The Cardinals are set to travel to Juniata College on Saturday, April 22 for a Landmark Conference series beginning at 1 p.m.
