WASHINGTON – Senior outfielder Brett Padula of The Catholic University of America baseball team was recognized for his success both on and off the field on Thursday as he was recognized on the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA) Academic All-District First Team.
Padula boasts a 3.68 GPA in mechanical engineering and now moves on to the Academic All-America ballot as a first-team honoree. Additionally, he is a two-time Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll member.
The Oakton, Va., native has been a force in a potent Catholic lineup all season as he's hit .361 over 26 games. Padula has totaled 20 runs, 30 hits, five doubles and six stolen bases over 83 at-bats in addition to a .422 on-base percentage.
Padula was recognized as the Landmark Athlete of the Week on March 6 and has helped Catholic to a 26-12 overall record and 12-5 mark thus far in conference play, the top record in the league.
