ELKVILLE, Ill. – The Catholic University of America baseball outfielder Bailey Lewis was announced as a member of the Prospect League All-Star Game in Indiana. Lewis, a rising junior, has played this summer in the collegiate wooden bat league for the Terra Haute (Ind.) Rex.
The All-Stars were selected by the respective Prospect League managers and field staff. Players from Danville, Kokomo, Lafayette, Quincy, Springfield and Terre Haute participated in an All-Star Showcase hosted this past Monday by the Kokomo Jackrabbits at Kokomo Municipal Stadium in Indiana.
Lewis has manned multiple outfield spots for the Rex and boasts a .301 batting average. He is second on the team in RBI (29), hits (40) and stolen bases (nine), and third in at-bats (133), and games played (38). Lewis is one seven Terra Haute players to make this year's All-Star Game.
"The work that John Perszyk, Dan Kuenzi and the rest of the Kokomo staff have done to ensure the quality of this event for the players, fans, and scouts is incredible," said Prospect League Commissioner Dennis Bastien. "We are proud to be able to showcase our premier players for the benefit of additional exposure to Major League scouts and our fans. Having 31 players drafted in the recent MLB Draft with Prospect League experience reflects the stature of our league."
Lewis has a .311 average in two seasons as a starter for the Cardinals with 80 hits over 257 at-bats. He has also compiled 24 extra-base hits, 47 runs and 59 RBI.
