Zachry Named to All-South Region Team

Drew Zachry (Cheverly, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt High) has been named to the 2000 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-South Region second-team.

Zachry, a senior pitcher, right fielder and designated hitter, had arguably the finest offensive season in school history in 2000, setting five season school records: batting average (.442), slugging percentage (.725), hits (61), RBI (49) and runs (46). He led the team in home runs (6), triples (5) and stolen bases (13) and was second in doubles (11), walks (25) and on-base percentage (.518). The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder started all 39 games and struck out just five times in 138 at-bats.

This is Zachry's third postseason honor. He was named first-team All-CAC for a third time and was selected to the 2000 GTE Academic All-America College Division District II Baseball Team. He graduated with a degree in physics on May 13
