ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - Senior Mike Pomfret (East Hampton, Conn./Xavier) went 4-for-4 with two RBI and pitchers Adam Weiss
(Massapequa Park, N.Y./Farmingdale)
and Doug Sherry (Millersville, Md./Severna Park) combined on a four-hit shutout to lead Catholic over St. Mary's 4-0 in the season opener for the Cardinals.

Pomfret had an RBI single in the fourth to score Billy Rue (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) and another in the ninth to score Rue.

Weiss (1-0) went five innings, giving up just two hits while fanning five and walking three. Sherry came on in the sixth and struck out two while surrendering just two hits for Catholic (1-0, 1-0 CAC), picking up the save.

St. Mary's falls to 2-2 and 0-2 in the CAC.

The Cardinals return to action on Friday, Feb. 22, with their home opener vs. Columbia Union at 2:30 p.m.
