ASHLAND, Va. - Catholic fell 3-1 to Randolph-Macon on Sunday afternoon giving the Cardinals their first loss of the 2002 season.

The Yellow Jackets' Alan Johnson went the distance, fanning 12 CUA batters, while surrendering eight hits, one run, and no walks.

Catholic (4-1) got its run in the ninth on a Baha Azimirad (Gaithersburg, Md./Watkins Mill) pinch-hit RBI double.

Brandon Bowron (Fairfax Station, Va./W.T. Woodson) took the loss as the senior went 6-1/3 innings, giving up 12 hits, three runs, two walks, while striking out two.

Randolph Macon's Wes Madden added a solo home run in the 4th inning. RMC is now 1-1.

The Cardinals return to action with CAC games on Tuesday versus Gallaudet at Talbot Field and an away date with Salisbury on Wednesday.
