Landmark Conference announces 2011 preseason poll
WASHINGTON - Catholic University has been voted second in the
annual Landmark Conference preseason poll, announced on
Thursday. The Cardinals placed behind Moravian College, who
landed the number one spot with 57 points. The poll surveys the
seven head baseball coaches and sports information directors at
each institution that sponsors the sport.
Moravian captured the 2010 conference championship and the
prognosticators predict more of the same in 2011. The
Greyhounds beat out CUA, which tallied 53 points and third place
Susquehanna with 47.
The fourth and fifth spots went to Juniata College (35) and the
University of Scranton (32). Rounding out the list is Drew
University with 17 points and the United States Merchant Marine
Academy with 11.
CUA had a strong 2010 season, winning 22 games overall and
finishing 13-5 in the conference.
Already the team has played four games this spring, picking up
three wins in a doubleheader versus Gettysburg and a single contest
against McDaniel.
The Cardinals are heading to Myrtle Beach during spring break for a
round of games beginning on March 6th vs. Allegheny. First
pitch is set for 10 a.m.
