Big offensive performance garners Breslin Athlete of the Week
WASHINGTON – After batting an incredible .615 and helping lead the CUA baseball team to four straight victories Brendan Breslin is this week's CUA Athlete of the Week. Breslin collected eight hits in 13 at bats, and also scored six runs and drove in a pair for the Cardinals last week.
Breslin started his week off by going 2 for 4 with a run scored in CUA's 10-3 win over Bridgewater on April 14. The freshman then went 3 for 4 with four runs scored, an RBI and a walk in the Cardinals' wild 12-11 win over Susquehanna in game one of a tripleheader on Sunday.
In Sunday's second game vs. the Crusaders Breslin collected one more hit, walked once and drove in a run as CUA collected a 6-5 walk-off victory, and in the nightcap he went 2 for 2 with yet another walk, and a run scored to help the Cardinals earn an 11-5 win.
For the season Breslin is batting .344 with 31 hits in 90 at bats. He has started 26 games for CUA and totaled 19 RBI, four doubles, two triples and a home run during that time. He is also 5 for 8 on stolen bases and boasts a fielding percentage of .963.
CUA hits the road for five games this week, beginning on Tuesday when the Cardinals travel to take on Mary Washington. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
