CUA ready to kick-off ODAC play at Hampden-Sydney Saturday

WASHINGTON - CUA begins its ODAC schedule on Saturday afternoon when the Cardinals travel to Virginia to take on Hampden-Sydney.  CUA was off last week after beginning the season with three straight come-from-behind wins, including a 29-28 decision vs. Carnegie Mellon its last time out.  CUA is averaging 38 points and 438 yards of total offense, both of which rank second in the ODAC behind Hampden-Sydney.  The Cardinals will be looking to take down a Tigers team that fell to Huntingdon 34-27 last week in Alabama.

CUA and Hampden-Sydney are facing one another for the 21st time this weekend with the Tigers leading the all-time series 11-9.  The last Cardinals win in the series came in 2008.

CUA currently leads the entire nation in passing offense, averaging 373.7 yards per contest.  Quarterback Greg Cordivari is ranked fourth in the country in total offense, averaging 361.7 yards per game.

After ranking last in the ODAC a season ago in pass defense at nearly 250 yards per game, CUA leads the ODAC and ranks seventh nationally in that category this season.  The Cardinals are allowing an average of just 92.3 yards per game through the air.

The Cardinals have made a living by scoring quickly this season.  Of CUA's 19 scoring drives in 2011, 13 have taken fewer than three minutes and four have been under a minute.

CUA currently ranks second in the ODAC in red zone offense, having converted on 15 of 16 chances (93.8%).  The Cardinals have scored 10 touchdowns and five field goals during that time.
