ODAC names Papas Defensive Player of the Week
WASHINGTON – After helping lead CUA to a 45-28 season-opening win over McDaniel on Friday, senior Drew Papas was named the ODAC Defensive Player of the Week on Sunday. Papas posted four tackles, including two for loss, forced a fumble and scored a touchdown in the win over the Green Terror.
Papas totaled three solo tackles and four overall, including two for loss in the win. The Massachusetts native also forced a fumble and scored his first career touchdown.
After McDaniel received the second half kick-off and went three-and-out, Ben Powers blocked a Green Terror punt and Papas fell on the ball in the end zone to put the Cardinals comfortably in front 31-16.
The win improved CUA to 6-1 under Head Coach Dave Dunn in season openers.
CUA is back in action on Friday, September 7 when the Cardinals play host to Gallaudet University on Community Night. Kick-off from inside Cardinal Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
