CUA Football Flashback: Tommy Whelan
Tommy Whelan, the greatest running back in CUA history, was one of
the nation's most exciting players in the early 1930s. One rival
coach even compared him to the famed Notre Dame halfback George
Gipp. Whelan's touchdowns tended to be long, dazzling open-field
runs, and he found the end zone in 15 consecutive games. He
concluded his illustrious career as an All-American.
