Vidal Earns National Football Foundation Scholarship

WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America rising senior Patrick Vidal was honored by the National Capital Chapter of the National Football Foundation (NFF) with one of three collegiate scholarships at its Scholar-Athlete Banquet.

This continues a strong offseason for the for the all-conference defensive lineman who had a workout with the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins just a few weeks ago.

An academic honor roll member, Vidal is a nursing major.

Vidal, his family and head coach Mike Gutelius were all in attendance at the 11th annual banquet held at the prestigious Army Navy Country Club in nearby Arlington, Va.

The National Football Foundation, which strives to recognize leadership, sportsmanship, competitive zeal and the drive for academic excellence, also presented several high school scholarships. Vidal was joined by Howard University's Kalen Johnson and Gallaudet University's Brad Peterson as the collegiate award winners. 

The NFF was established in 1947 by General MacArthur, Col. Red Blaik, and Grantland Rice with the mission to promote and develop the power of amateur football in America's young people. There currently 120 chapters across the United States.
