DiNardo & Vidal Make D3football National Team of the Week

WASHINGTON — The Catholic University of America football team was recognized with two selections to the D3football.com National Team of the Week as announced on Tuesday. Senior punter Andrew DiNardo and classmate and defensive tackle Patrick Vidal each made the team.

Catholic earned the first win of the Mike Gutelius era, 16-10 over Utica, thanks to impressive efforts from its two senior standouts.

DiNardo, a Street & Smith's Preseason All-American, averaged 49.4 yards per punt, with a net punting average of more than 40 yards. His long was 62 yards. He also pinned two inside the 20-yard line.

DiNardo's final punt of the day that came in the fourth quarter during a six-point game, went for 52 yards and pinned Utica at their own 14-yard line. He ranks second in the nation in yards per punt average.

Vidal, who was recognized as the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Defensive Athlete of the Week, earns his second career D3football.com weekly honor after grabbing one last season.

The Defensive lineman racked up a game-high 12 tackles as well as four tackles for loss. He forced a fumble and batted down a pass to lead a defense that forced five turnovers. The Cardinals forced two turnovers on downs on Utica's only two fourth-quarter possessions to seal the win.

The D3football.com Team of the Week is our weekly honor roll, started in 1999. It recognizes the top individual performance at each position, drawn from nominations provided by schools.
