McGee named ODAC Player of the Week

Derek McGee (Shamong, N.J./Cherokee High) has been named Old Dominion Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Cardinals' 69-27 romp over Guilford on Saturday.

McGee completed 12 of 14 passes for 264 yards and a career-high-tying four touchdowns. The junior also rushed for 52 yards and scored a 10-yard TD. He led CUA to touchdowns on nine of its first 10 possessions and was not intercepted. He has had a hand in 32 points (5 TDs, 1 2-point conversion) two weeks in a row.

McGee has helped the Cardinals (6-3, 4-1 ODAC) to five victories in a row. They can claim their second straight ODAC championship and fourth consecutive bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs with a win next week against visiting Bridgewater (8-1, 4-1).

For the year, McGee is 126 of 226 (55.7%) for 1,600 yards, 16 TDs and six interceptions. He has rushed for a personal-high 283 yards (5.2 avg.) and scored five TDs. He is 25-6 (.806) in his three years as CUA's starting quarterback.
