Eight gain All-Conference honors
SALEM, Va. - Members of the Catholic football team represented five of the First Team selections and three Honorable Mentions in the 2001 Old Dominion Athletic Conference All Conference Football Teams. On offense, seniors offensive tackle Puri Garzone (Philadelphia, Pa./LaSalle) and tight end Damian Richard (Winona, Minn./Cotter) were named to the first team. Seniors defensive tackle Matt Steiner (Hainesport, N.J./Holy Cross) and safety Jimmy Nalls (Sliver Spring, Md./Gonzaga) along with junior defensive end Scot Lutte (Walnutport, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) garnered first team on defense. Senior punter Mike Fleet (Wheaton, Md./Good Counsel) was named to the first team as well.
Seniors, quarterback Derek McGee (Shamong, N.J./Cherokee), defensive tackle Drew Anderson (College Park, Md./Gonzaga), and defensive back Denis Campbell (Silver Spring, Md./Paint Branch) all earned spots on the Honorable Mention list.
Bridgewater's Jason Lutz was named the ODAC Player of the Year while his head coach Mike Clark and Washington & Lee head coach Frank Miriello were tabbed as ODAC Co-Coaches of the Year.
