BUBLAVI TO PLAY IN AZTEC BOWL (November 21, 2005)

WACO, TEX.
— Catholic University wide receiver Nick Bublavi will play for the American Football Coaches Association’s Division III all-star team in the 2005 Aztec Bowl on December 17 in Toluca, Mexico. Bublavi will be a member of the United States team which faces the Mexican national team.

Bublavi, a senior from Norwood, Pa., ended the regular season as the NCAA Division III co-leader in receptions and leader in receiving yards. In 10 games,he caught 101 passes for 1,797 yards and 15 touchdowns for the Cardinals.

Bublavi is one of 46 NCAA Division III seniors from the United States who will make up this year’s team.

The Aztec Bowl is the traditional season-ending game for Mexico’s college football season. The game has been played 34 times since 1947 with the last eight contests featuring the United States-Mexico match-up. The United States is 7-1 in the series and defeated Mexico, 23-3, in the 2004 game in Cancun.
