CUA FOOTBALL, BUBLAVI EARN NCAA STATISTICAL AWARDS (Jan. 13, 2006)

WASHINGTON, D.C.-- The NCAA has awarded Catholic University football three statistics awards for the 2005 season.

The Cardinals led the NCAA in team passing offense while wide receiver Nick Bublavi earned top honors for receiving yards per game and receptions per game. CUA garnered 4,341 yards passing in '05, resulting in 30 touchdowns and 434 passing yards per game.

Bublavi earned two NCAA statistics awards as he led all NCAA Division III receivers in receptions per game (10.1) and receiving yards per game (179.7). This is the second time a Cardinal receiver has received the receptions per game and third time for receiving yards per game. Jeff Clay set the school record for receptions in 1997 and received the NCAA statistical awards with 162.5 receiving yards per game and 11.2 receptions per game. Steve Wilkerson averaged 145.7 receiving yards per game in 1994.
