Football Wins in Shootout against W&L

WASHINGTON- Greg Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Malvern Prep) ran for 211 yards on 28 carries, while Keith Ricca broke the career passing mark, throwing for 287 yards and five touchdowns, as the Cardinals defeated the Generals of Washington & Lee in a shootout, 48-29.
Ricca passed for nearly 300 yards again today, breaking Kevin Ricca's record of 9,469 career yards. Ricca threw five touchdowns on the day, including two 39-yard connections to Miles Sabrick (Douglassville, Pa./Reading Central Catholic).
Defensively, Nick Olivero (Fairfax, Va./W.T. Woodson) had two interceptions including one that sealed the game with 3:48 left in the fourth quarter. Olivero also added a pass break up. David Woo (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) had a team-leading 11 tackles, including 3.5 tackles for loss.
The teams exchanged blows in this heavyweight bout, until late in the third quarter when the Cardinal defense stalled the Generals' offense forcing two consecutive punts that the offense then converted to touchdowns.
CUA will return to action on Saturday, October 25th, on the road at Hampden-Sydney at 1 p.m. The Cardinals will not return to Cardinal Stadium for over a month as the team will then welcome Bridgewater (Va.) to Washington, D.C. to end the regular season.
