Cardinals close out non-league schedule with trip to Albright
WASHINGTON – CUA looks to get back
in the win column on Saturday afternoon as the Cardinals close out
their 2010 non-league schedule with a trip to Reading, Pa., to take
on the Albright Lions. CUA fell to McDaniel last weekend at
home 24-14 in what was the Cardinals first loss of the
season. Albright has been off since earning its first win of
2010 with a 54-27 victory over Geneva on September 11.
CUA wide receivers Anthony Gibbs and
Lawrence
DeSimone hauled in their first career touchdown receptions last
week vs. McDaniel. Gibbs caught a 12-yard scoring strike in
the second quarter, while DeSimone came down with a 21-yard
reception near the end of the third.
Six different Cardinals registered six tackles last week as they
led a CUA defense that totaled 11.0 tackles for-loss. The
last time CUA recorded 11.0 tackles for-loss was November 1, 2008
at Emory & Henry.
CUA leads the all-time series with Alrbight 3-1. The
Cardinals won a thriller the last time they met with a 34-33
overtime victory in 1998. A Gregg Anderson blocked extra
point in OT proved to be the difference.
