CUA looks to finish season on strong note vs. Bridgewater

WASHINGTON - CUA closes out its 2010 season on Saturday afternoon as the Cardinals welcome Bridgewater to town on Senior Day.  CUA will look to pull even on the season and win its second straight after earning a 23-22 win at Guilford last weekend on the road.  Freshman Andrew Ouellette provided the heroics with a 94-yard kickoff return for a touchdown with only 4:19 to play to lift CUA to the conference victory.

Bridgewater enters this weekend coming off a 31-26 win over Emory and Henry at home.  ODAC Offensive Player of the Week Tyler Beiler hauled in seven passes for 218 yards on the day to snap the school single-game receiving record by one yard.

The Cardinals and Eagles meet for the 21st time this afternoon in a series dating back to 1950. Bridgewater leads 14-6, having won the last ten meetings, including a 30-13 victory last season.  CUA's last win in the series came back in 1999 when it came out on top 35-14.

Freshman Andrew Ouellette continues to make his presence known in the return game.    For the season, the first-year standout has returned 27 kicks for 793 yards (29.4 average), including two that he has taken to paydirt.  Last weekend, Ouellette brought back three kicks for 128 yards, including a game-winning 94-yard touchdown with 4:19 to play.

The future looks bright for CUA after a season in which the majority of its top skill players are freshmen or sophomores.  In the last seven games, only one of the Cardinals touchdowns has been scored by someone who is not a freshman or sophomore.

CUA continues to do a nice job inside the red zone, where the Cardinals scored on three of four opportunities last weekend.  For the season CUA is 29 of 36 inside the red zone (81%).

Freshman Connor Maloney leads the ODAC with nine made field goals this season.  The first year Cardinal kicked a 37-yarder last week at Guilford and for the season he has scored 52 points.
