Cardinals back in action on Saturday at Emory & Henry
WASHINGTON - Following its bye week, the
CUA football team returns to action on Saturday as the Cardinals
head to Virginia to take on Emory & Henry. CUA was last
in action on October 9 when the Cardinals fell to Randolph-Macon
56-28, while Emory & Henry is looking to bounce back following
a 48-10 loss at Hampden-Sydney.
CUA and Emory & Henry get together for the 14th time this
weekend with the Wasps holding a slim 7-6 lead. Emory &
Henry won last year’s meeting 13-10 in Washington, D.C.,
while the Cardinals earned a 38-23 victory in 2008 in Virginia.
CUA senior safety Dylan O’Shea ranks among the league leaders
in a number of categories. He is currently first in forced
fumbles (2), second in passes defended (7), and tenth in
interceptions (1).
Sophomore Alonzo Cooke is among the national leaders this season in
receiving yards per game. The native of Maryland is averaging
121.3 yards per contest, good for ninth in America. He has
two games of 200-plus receiving yards, including his last time out
when he hauled in seven passes for 207 yards and a pair of
touchdowns.
In its last 12 quarters, CUA has committed only two turnovers, both
of which came at Randolph-Macon. The Cardinals did not commit
a single turnover vs. Albright or Hampden-Sydney. For the
season, CUA has lost only one fumble, and the Cardinals have
recovered seven.
The Cardinals and Wasps will get things started at 1:00 on Saturday
from Fullerton Field. For more information on this
