Dave Dunn begins his second year at the helm of the Cardinal football program.  Hired early in 2006, he is just the eighth head coach the Cards have seen since joining Division III in 1977.

In his first season, Dunn led an underclassmen-laden team to a 3-7 record going 1-5 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.  Despite the sub-.500 record, Dunn took CUA to a 34-33 overtime victory versus Ohio Wesleyan and was also instrumental in many close games.  He had four players named all-conference including two on the first team.  As the offensive coordinator, Dunn made the Cards the second best passing offense in the ODAC.

Dunn came to CUA from Becker College in Worcester, Mass., where he was the program's first head coach in 2005.  Starting the team from scratch, he recruited 90 student-athletes in just nine months to get the program on its feet.

Dunn began his coaching career at his alma mater, the University of San Diego, in 1990.  He was the defensive line coach under Brian Fogarty.  After USD, Dunn moved to Indiana State where he was the outside linebackers coach under head coach Dennis Raetz.  He then went to Harvard where he was the defensive line and strength coach for the 1997 Ivy League Champs who ranked second in the nation in scoring defense.  During his tenure with the Crimson Dunn helped produce six all-conference linemen.

After Harvard, Dunn moved on to Florida Atlantic University where he worked for legendary football coach Howard Schnellenberger as the running backs and special teams coach. Dunn was an integral member of the coaching staff that propelled FAU to one of the most successful start-up football programs in the history of college football. The Owls were the fastest program to beat a Division I-A opponent and reached the 2003 Division I-AA national semifinals in the program's third year of existence.

In addition to his college coaching experience, Dunn compiled a career record of 56-26 as a head high school football coach and led teams in Connecticut and Florida to multiple district and conference championships.
