Cassilly Named Defensive Player of the Week
Cards clinch post season berth

10/22/2007

WASHINGTON - Sophomore goalkeeper Marian Cassilly (Gambrills, Md./Archbishop Spalding) has been named the Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts versus Moravian on Saturday.  The Cardinals defeated the Greyhounds 3-1 to improve to 9-6 overall and 4-1 in conference.  With the win they also clinched a post season berth in the Landmark Conference tournament.

Cassilly came up big in the cage in the Cardinals' only match of the week. She recorded six saves and allowed just one goal.  The performance lowered her goals against average to 1.07, and marked the fourth time she has allowed one or fewer goals in a Landmark match.

The Cards will have a tough game on Wednesday as they host the #2 Salisbury Sea Gulls at Cardinal Stadium.  The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
