Banholzer Earns Field Hockey Honors
Freshman scores first three career goals

10/8/2007

WASHINGTON - Freshman field hockey player Abby Banholzer (Hartland, Wis./Trinity Academy) has been named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week as she led The Catholic University of America to a 3-0 record this past week.  Banholzer scored three goals in two games which mark the first three she has scored in her intercollegiate career.

Banholzer was a key offensive component as CUA claimed two Landmark victories to remain at the top of the conference standings. She found the back of the cage twice for the Cardinals in a 5-0 victory over Goucher College, and then converted one goal to seal a 2-0 win over the University of Scranton. One of her goals against Goucher, and her tally against the Royals came from the penalty spot.

The Cardinals are now 3-0 in the Landmark Conference and 6-5 overall after playing a tough non-conference schedule.  CUA faces Virginia Wesleyan this afternoon at 4 p.m.
