CUA ranked 14th in this week's coaches poll
WASHINGTON – After going 1-1 a week ago with its loss
coming vs. a top-ten foe, CUA checks in at No. 14 in this
week’s Kookaburra/NFHCA Coaches Poll, announced on
Tuesday. The Cardinals enter this week at 4-1 and received
274 points in the poll.
CUA took down Gettysburg in its first game last week by a score of
8-0. Six different Cardinals scored, including Tracey Scanlon
who netted a hat trick, while Megan Communale and Alison Dillard
combined for the shutout in goal.
On Saturday, September 17 the Cardinals dropped their first game
of the season to No. 10 Rowan by a 3-2 score. CUA led 2-1 at
halftime but was unable to hold on in the end. Freshman Kim
Hermann scored both goals for CUA, and finished the week with seven
points in the two games, which earned her the Landmark Conference
Offensive Player of the Week award.
Through five games CUA has outscored its opponents 18-6, and out
shot them 140-50.
Salisbury is this week’s number-one team in the poll,
followed by Ursinus, Messiah, Bowdoin and Skidmore.
CUA is back in action on Wednesday evening when the Cardinals take
on the nation’s 11th ranked team, Mary Washington, inside
Cardinal Stadium. Action is set to begin at 7 p.m.
