ECAC announces All-Star Team, two Cardinals honored
WASHINGTON – The ECAC recently announced its 2011 All-Star Team and CUA had two student-athletes honored. Freshman Colleen Harwood was named the Rookie of the Year, while senior Tracey Scanlon received First Team All-Star accolades.
Harwood receives her second Rookie of the Year award after receiving the same honor from the Landmark Conference. An All-Region and All-Conference honoree, Harwood led CUA with 14 goals and 33 points in 2011. She scored multiple goals in three games, including a four-goal performance in a 10-0 victory over Goucher.
Harwood, who is CUA's first-ever Landmark Rookie of the Year, scored three game-winners on the season, and was also named to the synapsesports.com All-Rookie Squad.
A First Team All-American, All-Region, and All-Conference selection, Scanlon finished the season with 11 goals, five assists and 27 points. She scored a season-high three goals in a win over Gettysburg and added two scores in a victory vs. Goucher.
Scanlon, who was also named the Landmark Conference Player of the Year, finished her CUA career with 27 goals and played in the NFHCA Senior Game, which took place on November 19.
CUA went 17-2 in 2011, including a perfect 6-0 mark in conference play. The Cardinals won their first-ever Landmark championship and advanced to their first NCAA Tournament. CUA defeated Eastern 5-2 in the opening round of the tournament before falling to Lynchburg in the regional semifinals.
