Cardinals ranked 11th in NFHCA coaches poll

WASHINGTON – The CUA field hockey team has moved up two spots in this week's Kookaburra/NFHCA Division III National Coaches Poll to No. 11, it was announced on Tuesday.  The Cardinals were ranked No. 13 in the preseason poll, but three straight wins have pushed them to the brink of the top-ten.

CUA is currently 3-0, with wins over Washington & Lee and Randolph-Macon at home and a 2-1 overtime win vs. Elizabethtown on the road.

The Cardinals have out shot their opponents 82-20 in the early going and outscored them 8-3.  Eight different players have found the back of the cage, while Kim Hermann is the assist leader with two.

Messiah currently sits atop the coaches poll, with Salisbury, Ursinus, Bowdoin and Skidmore rounding out the top-five.

CUA plays twice this week, beginning on Tuesday when the Cardinals play host to Gettysburg inside Cardinal Stadium at 4:30 p.m.  On Saturday, CUA will travel to New Jersey to face No. 10 Rowan.  Action gets underway beginning at 1.
