Cardinals ranked 12th in the nation for third straight week
WASHINGTON – For the third straight week CUA is ranked No. 12 in the Kookaburra/NFHCA Division III Coaches Poll, announced on Tuesday. The Cardinals have won eight straight games and are currently 12-1 overall, including a perfect 5-0 mark within the Landmark Conference.
The Cardinals played just once last week, downing conference rival Scranton 2-0 on October 22. CUA limited the Royals to a single shot in the game, and received a pair of late goals from Katie Bertrand and Mary Swarthout to remain unbeaten in the Landmark.
CUA continues to be ranked in the top-ten nationally in a number of statistical categories, including penalty corners per game, where it leads the country at 15.15, as well as scoring margin (3), save percentage (4), goals against average (5), shutouts per game (6), scoring average (10), goals per game (10) and win percentage (10).
Individually, Megan Comunale is ranked sixth in save percentage and ninth in goals against average.
CUA returns to action on Tuesday evening when the Cardinals welcome the nation's No. 1 team, Salisbury, to Cardinal Stadium for a 6 p.m. showdown.
