CUA up to No. 12 in this week's coaches poll
WASHINGTON – CUA is up to No. 12 in this week’s
Kookaburra/NFHCA Division III National Coaches Poll, released on
Tuesday. The Cardinals, who have won six straight games, are
10-1 this season, and have shut out five of their last six
opponents.
CUA played just once last week, defeating conference foe Goucher
10-0 at home. Colleen Harwood was the team’s top
offensive performer, scoring four goals en route to earning
Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors. The
Cardinals have been honored with a weekly award from the conference
in each of the past five weeks.
The Cardinals won their tenth game of the season on Monday,
earning a hard-fought 1-0 road win at St. Mary’s.
Salisbury once again maintains its spot atop the national poll
this week with Franklin & Marshall, Bowdoin, Lynchburg and
Skidmore rounding out the top-five.
CUA will next head to Huntingdon, Pa. on Saturday to face the No.
20 Juniata Eagles in a huge Landmark Conference showdown.
Both teams enter the contest unbeaten in league play and the winner
will have the inside track on home field advantage for next
month’s conference tournament. Start time is 1 p.m.
