CUA makes memories at alumni game and tailgate

WASHINGTON - The Catholic University Field Hockey team welcomed former and current players for an alumni game and tailgate on Saturday, March 23.

"It was a wonderful day and we had a great turnout," said Head Coach Gia Cillizza. "It was such a treat to see players from across the years on one field together."

The teams competed in full-field action, a short 7v7 overtime format and introduced the alums to the new one-on-one shootouts. The game was followed by a tailgate party, where the alums offered some advice to current team members.

"It's really rewarding to have former players come back to play and catch up with all of us," said Cillizza. "We have such a great extended family and we love bringing everyone together."

"Coming back for the alumni game felt so much like home," said former co-captain Andrea Baick, class of 2011. "Even though there were new faces, everything felt like we never left."

She added, "The current players bonded with the alumni, and it felt like we were all one big team. That's the great part about coming back to CUA Field Hockey – the family stays together no matter how many years we may spend apart."
