Two-time conference champions honored for success in the classroom

WASHINGTON – The CUA field hockey team has been honored with the 2012 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division III National Academic Team award, it was recently announced. In order to receive a team award, institutions must achieve a minimum grade point average of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2012-13 academic year.

CUA won its second consecutive Landmark Conference championship in 2012, and appeared in the NCAA Tournament for a second straight season. The Cardinals have now won a championship in each of the last three years, including the 2010 ECAC championship, along with the last two Landmark Conference crowns.

Individually, five Cardinals were named to the All-Conference Teams, two received All-Region recognition and one earned All-Rookie squad honors.
