WASHIGNTON – The Catholic University field hockey team extends its win streak four victories and remains unbeaten in Cardinal Stadium following a 4-0 shutout on Saturday, Sept. 21 against Misericordia.
Cardinal junior Rebecca Lukaszczyk scored the first two goals of the contest, beginning with an unassisted goal 11 minutes and 19 seconds into the contest. Fellow classmate Kim Hermann assisted Lukaszczyk on her second goal in the second half of play after 10 CUA penalty corners opportunities.
The Cards scored their third point of the contest on a successful attack by sophomore Tarah Portland, which was assisted by Lukaszczyk. Lukaszczyk attempted a close range shot that recoiled off the goal to setup Portland's first goal of the season.
By the numbers, CUA overpowered Misericordia in every offensive category with 32 total attempts, 19 shots on goal and 21 penalty corners. The Cougars were successful defensively with 15 saves in the contest.
CUA concludes the three-game homestand on Tuesday, Sept. 24 with No. 5 Mary Washington at 7:00 p.m. in Cardinal Stadium. Mary Washington will be the Catholic's third NFHCA ranked opponent this season.
