WASHINGTON - Goalie Katie Iannacone (Havertown, Pa./Villa Maria) collected her second consecutive shutout and her third of the season as she made four saves in No. 18 Catholic's 2-0 victory over Franklin and Marshall in a non-league contest. Catholic (8-1) won its previous outing, a 7-0 shutout against Christopher Newport.
Freshman Rebecca Clark (Pasadena, Md./Seton Keough) opened the scoring in just the first minute of the game with her third goal of the season. Sophomore Danielle Deon (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Twp.) collected an assist on Clark's goal.
Junior Steph Roselle (Tinton Falls, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) banged home a loose rebound at the 27:36 mark to make it 2-0. The unassisted goal was her seventh of the season.
The Diplomats (4-7) fought off the early CUA surge and created numerous offensive opportunities but were turned away by the stellar play of Iannacone. F&M thought it had a goal late in the first half but it was ruled that the shot came from outside the arc.
Catholic resumes action on Thursday as they continue their homestand with a non-league game against Johns Hopkins at 4:30 p.m.
