York snaps win streak, claims 2-seed Oct. 18, 2001

YORK, Pa. - Catholic had its school-record 12 game win streak snapped at the hands of York 1-0 in a CAC contest. The Spartans' Amy Sefrass scored at the 29:34 mark of the second half to send the Cardinals (14-2, 3-2 CAC) to only its second loss of the season.

York outshot the Cardinals 18-11 and held an 11-3 advantage in penalty corners.

Junior goalie Katie Iannacone (Havertown, Pa./Villa Maria) posted 11 saves while Spartan keeper Heidi Duthoy made six saves.

With its loss to York, Catholic University received the No. 4 seed in the upcoming CAC Tournament. The Cardinals will host St. Mary's on Monday, Oct. 22, at 3:30 p.m.

The winner of that game will face the top-seeded Eagles of Mary Washington on Thursday, Oct. 25. York clinched the No. 3 seed and will face Goucher on Monday. The winner will face No. 2-seed Salisbury on Thursday, Oct. 25.
