COLLEGE PARK, Md. - York's Emily Schneck scored once and had two assists as the Spartans defeated Catholic 4-1 in a Capital Athletic Conference contest. The game was played at the University of Maryland.
The Spartans (7-11, 3-2 CAC) went up 2-0 in the first half on goals by Natalie Mowery and Rachel Lewis.
Catholic cut the lead to one as sophomore Rebecca Clark (Pasadena, Md./Seton Keough) scored her 11th goal of the year at the 30:38 mark with an assist from junior Danielle Deon (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Twp.).
The Cardinals (6-10, 2-3 CAC) saw York increase the lead to 3-1 on a goal from Schneck in the 49th minute. YCP's Becky McCall added an unassisted tally later in the 56th minute.
Catholic finishes 2-3 in the CAC and earns the fourth seed in the upcoming CAC Tournament. The Cardinals will face the fifth seed, St. Mary's, in a first-round game on Sunday, Nov. 3 at the DuFour Center at 2 p.m. York clinches the third seed and will host sixth seed Goucher. Top-seeded Salisbury and second-seeded Mary Washington receive first-round byes.
